The project's video - Oases of Al Jufra in Libya - Walter Bencini

A journey into the heart of Libya in the oasis of Al Jufrah, on the ancient caravan routes, the discovery of a unique heritage in the world: four hundred varieties of dates preserved with care by peasants. A wealth that has shaped the culture and the customs of this country, from language to religion, from architecture to cuisine.

This documentary, realized by Slow Food Foundatation for Biodiversity Onlus, has been produced as part of the “Improvement and development of date palms in the oases of Al Jufrah in Libya” program, funded by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and coordinated by the Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare (IAO) in Florence in collaboration with the Libyan Ministry of Agriculture.
